A “profound” realization

I was thinking about the winter overnight boy-girl-boy-girl trip that is being arranged by one of The Boy’s friends. It happens to fall at a bad time for The Boy with regards to his work and so we probably won’t go. =( =(

The Boy forwarded the invitation to Back-Up Boy (BUB) who is even less likely to go. Technically, the group consists of The Boy’s friend’s friends. However, there are a lot of mutual friends on the invite list and BUB knows the guys from playing on the same league last year.

I wondered if BUB would want to bring his crush with him. (Have I mentioned her before? I saw her in person at a dinner for BUB. My initial assessment was whore-ish make-up, whore-ish clothing, whore-ish hair, drinker, and smoker. But apparently BUB can see through it all and find a lovable person.)

Then I wondered if there would be any single girls on the trip for BUB to meet.

Then I realized that my best girlfriends and the girls I associate with are all hooked up….

* YAB, who is abroad, is the only of my friends to be married.
* BFF#1 and BFF#2 are in near-/co-habitating situations that work themselves out through time.
* And Birdie will be my second friend to be married.
* My training buddies, whom I don’t consider my close friends, are in stable, long-term relationships.
* The girl I wanted to set BUB up with got herself a nice boy I met in November and she’s moving to Metropolis later this year, from whence he hails.
* Even Girlfight Girl (GFG) has been in a relationship slightly longer than I have.

I know it’s not fair to compare with the single-ness of The Boy’s friends who are exactly the same age as he is, which is exactly the same age as I am, because they are boys. But that circle of wild and partying people BUB fell into consists of girls.

Especially after being there when my girlfriends have struggled in or out of a relationship, I’m just so happy that all my favourite girlfriends are in fabulous parts of their lives.
